# LeafSMP rules

*From https://leafsmp.com/rules, the server's own website. Written by the person who runs LeafSMP.*

There are four. They are short because the alternative is a wall of clauses nobody reads, and because a person willing to make a judgement covers the rest.

## 1. 16+, and be decent to each other.

The age limit is the whole reason the server feels the way it does. It is not about maturity in the abstract, it is that everyone here can hold a conversation and take a joke and let something go. Being decent covers the rest: no slurs, no pile-ons, no making someone feel like they have to leave.

## 2. No griefing, no stealing.

Every block placed or broken and every container opened is written to a log with a name and a timestamp. That means grief is not a matter of my judgement against yours, it is a matter of me reading what happened and putting it back. I have done it. It also means I do not need to lock the world down with claim plugins to keep it safe, which is why building here feels like singleplayer rather than like a server.

## 3. PvP is on, but only if both of you want it.

Duelling a friend is good fun and turning PvP off would take that away. Hitting someone who did not agree to it and walking off with their gear is just stealing with extra steps, and it is handled the same way stealing is handled.

## 4. If the rules do not cover it, I will make a call.

Four rules and a person willing to make a judgement beats forty rules and a lawyer. If you think a call went the wrong way, say so and I will listen.

## Settings worth knowing

Not rules, but the things people are surprised by if nobody tells them.

- Hard difficulty. Mobs turn up in armour.
- No keep inventory. You drop the lot.
- One home. /sethome sets it, /home goes back, /back takes you to where you died.
- /spawn puts you back at the community spawn. /tpa asks another player if you can teleport to them, and they have to accept.
- A quarter of whoever is online need to be asleep to skip the night.
- Fire spreads.

## Mods and clients

You don't need any. Plenty of us play plain vanilla. Performance mods and shaders are welcome. Hacked clients and xray are not. The ones we recommend are packaged as [a modpack you can install in one click](/mods), including Simple Voice Chat, which means you can just talk to whoever is standing next to you.
